Mission
Partnerships
The Evangelical Lutheran Church of The Gambia acknowledges a special
relationship with the Lutheran Church of Senegal. This church
also recognizes a special relationship with the Evangelical Lutheran
Church of Sierra Leone which gave initial advice on our establishment
with the Lutheran Church of Senegal. Indeed, we owe a great deal
of thanks for the special leadership relationship with the Lutheran
Church of Senegal which provides Episcopal supervision and frequently
sends their pastors -- especially Rev. Musa Marong who has been
the official border-crossing pastor in the Ssenegambia Region.
The ELCTG recognizes the fact that it is only a member of the
body of Christ. There are other members of this body, which have
gifts with roles and responsibilities to play for the fulfillment
of Christ mission.
The Church is therefore willing to share its resources with other
members of Christs Church and will receive from other members
gifts and resources designed to enhance our mission together and
promote the oneness of Christs Church.
Ecumenical Relationships
The ELCTG pursues cordial Ecumenical relationship with the Gambian
Christian Council and the Lutheran Communion of West Africa (LUCWA).
At the continental level, our church leadership will seek to be
part of the all African Conference of Churches (AACC)

Cooperation
and Partnership Terms of Reference
The main purpose of the cooperation
between the Evangelical Lutheran Church of The Gambia and her
partners is the strengthening of the proclamation of the Gospel
of Jesus Christ through witness and service.
The two entities in the partnership
will therefore undertake to promote financial self-sufficiency
and function of the Church into a single Lutheran Church in The
Gambia.
